UBUMUNTU ARTS FESTIVAL

Ubumuntu Arts Festival, which is funded by The U.S Embassy Rwanda among other partners is an avenue where people from different walks of life around the world come together and speak to each other in the language of art. It happens annually following the last week of the 100 days commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Held at the outdoor amphitheatre of the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Kigali, Rwanda. Festival activities include but are not limited to performances, workshops, panels and genocide memorial site visits.

Project Background

In 2020, due to Covid-19 travel restrictions and social distancing protocols, the festival was unable to proceed as it had before. This traditionally very physically interactive festival had to go online to continue. The organizing team brought in Trio Digital to help navigate the complexities of the digital space while still maintaining the heart and soul of the festival.

Our Role

Trio Digital partnered with Ubumuntu Arts Festival to provide digital transformation & communication strategy, digital marketing, digital PR and event coverage and all it entails through the different platforms – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, E-mail and a website.

We truly enjoyed working with the Ubumuntu Arts Festival team to bring their vision to life by showcasing the cultural diversity of the world through the language of art.

Special shout out to the amazing Hope Azeda, Waridi Events and the entire Mashirika performing arts team who worked tirelessly with us day and night for over 100 days to make this event the magical experience it was.
